  • No cooking experience is required. Our programs are designed to be fully accessible for beginners while still offering challenges for more confident cooks. Everyone learns by doing — at their own pace.

  • We serve a wide range of ages, including preschoolers, elementary and middle school students, teens, adults, and seniors. Each program is adapted to the developmental, social, and physical needs of the group.

  • We bring all tools, ingredients, materials, and supplies. Participants only need closed-toe shoes and a willingness to have fun!

  • Yes. We can adjust recipes or provide alternatives when notified in advance. Safety and inclusion are top priorities in every program.

  • Absolutely. We use age-appropriate tools and teach safety skills intentionally. Programs are structured to ensure students can participate confidently and safely.

  • No — our programs are fully mobile. We can run sessions in classrooms, cafeterias, community rooms, senior center multipurpose spaces, corporate offices, or home kitchens. We adapt to the space you have.

  • Most experiences run 60–90 minutes.
    Birthday parties, workshops, and special events may run up to 3 hours.
    Multi-week series and seasonal programs are also available.

  • After-school programs and senior centers typically book 1–3 months ahead.
    Private events and parties can often be scheduled sooner, depending on availability.

  • Yes! Custom menus, themes, and modifications are welcome. We love creating unique cooking experiences tailored to your group or celebration.

  • At this time, all programs are offered in person to maximize hands-on learning, social connection, and developmental benefits.

  • Policies vary depending on the program type. Details are included in your confirmation email when your session is booked.

  • Group sizes vary by setting. After-school classes typically run 10–20 students. Senior groups may be smaller, while parties and events can scale depending on space. We’ll help design a format that fits your needs.

  • Social Skillet is based in the San Francisco, Bay Area and serves Concord, Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Martinez, Clayton, and surrounding regions. Additional travel may be available upon request.
